He was born in Pine Village, Ind., and resided in Gettysburg R. 3 since 1936. For the past several months he resided in Bladensburg. The deceased was a farmer most of his life, retiring in 1940. He was a son of the late Charles W. and Nancy Ann Shipman Ogburn.
He was a member of the Mummasburg Mennonite Church where he served as a dacon since 1937. He had been a deacon in the Mennonite Church elsewhere since 1904. His wife, the former Lydia A. Kauffman died June 30, 1960.
Surviving are 10 children: Ira, Ray and Levi, all of Bladensburg; Mrs. Elvon Merrill, Greenbackville, Va; Forrest, New Oxford, R. 2; Mrs. G. Lawrence Hartman, Aspers; Mrs. Walter Collins, Masontown; Walter, Guernsey; John, Bladensburg; Earl, Hyattsville, Md; 36 grandchildren, 16 great-granchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Hooks, Princess Anne, Md; Mrs. Lawrence Kenney, Kirkland, Wash; one brother, Otis, Seattle, Wash.
Funeral services Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Mummasburg Mennonite Church conducted by the Revs. Richard Danner and Amos Myer. Interment in the Mummasburg Cemetery. Friends may call at the Bender Funeral Home Saturday evening from 7 to 9 o'clock. It has been requested that flowers be omitted.
